Copenhagen
MIT Shakespeare Ensemble, August 2014
Dir. Mark Velednitsky
A production about scientists put on by scientists--at MIT, nonetheless--is always a rewarding experience. With only three characters onstage for the entireity of this production in a very intimate space, I wanted the costumes to hold plenty of visual interest. To do this, I opted for vintage items, ornate textures, and additional items for the actors to use in their blocking, like coat, apron, hat, suit jacket, and breifcase.
With three characters, often at different corners of the stage and arguing in three different directions, I went with my old favorite of primary color themes: Red tie and striped shirt for Heisenberg, blue sweater for Bohr, and green grosgrain dress for Margrethe.
