Hogwarts Student Robes, Spring 2012. Using the same pattern that I devised for a 40-person robe-making workshop, in preparation for a Harry Potter LARP (see handout below).
Cardboard Ukulele, Fall 2012. Complete with bamboo frets, tuning pegs, and soundbox artwork
"Sport Dad" Fathers' Day Card, Spring 2013. Riffing on the Senior House motto of "Sport Death," while sending along a Fathers' Day greeting, as well. Ink and colored pencil.
Fellowship Cloak, Fall 2012. In preparation for the midnight premiere of The Hobbit, I made a screen-accurate version of the famous Fellowship of the Ring cloak. It's since made an appearance in several LARPs.
MTG Documentarian, ongoing. I record and edit archival recordings of all Musical Theater Guild shows. My next trick: adding director-staff commentary tracks.
Beer Goggles, Spring 2013. A bad pun, manifested in a steampunky costume accessory. I chose Guinness cans, both for the color scheme, and to finally figure out what those clacky things are inside.
Tri-Lam Sweater, Fall 2012. My 2012 Halloween costume. Who says one can only belong to a single nerd frat? Later made an Instructable (see link below).
Jedi Robes, Summer 2010. Some weekends, I make Jedi robes.
Steer Roast costume, Spring 2010. I served as head of security (and later organizer) of Steer Roast, a giant, weekend-long Senior House alum gathering. A badass Annie Lennox costume seemed a valid clothing choice.
Watch City Festival, Spring 2013. Every year, the town of Waltham gets a temporary steampunk makeover, and I've been attending since 2012. Often times, I insist on dressing up my friends.
Girl Scout Gold Award Project, Summer 2007. As part of earning my Gold Award, I put together a portable Native American history display, complete with wigwam, and traveled to various schools and community events.
Pallid Bust of Pallas Mural, Fall 2008. Senior House is one of the few dorms at MIT that allows mural painting. My first mural paid tribute to my favorite poem. Bonus points if you spot the Project Athena nod.
LARP costuming, ongoing. I always make a point to offer costuming help to any fellow players when I'm cast in a LARP. Of course, I usually go overboard with my own...
Arwen's Blood Red Dress, Spring 2008. For my Senior Prom, I constructed a replica of a gown from Return of the King. The sleeves were impractical for dancing, but it for made great senior photos. Photos courtesy of Brian Price.
Gryffindor Quidditch Robes, Fall 2010. In preparation for the midnight premiere of Half-Blood Prince, I catered to House pride and made some Gryffindor robes. They later appeared at the final movie premiere, and were on a Boston news report.
"The Fire-Throwing Blimp," Winter 2012. A bit of Hack, Punt, Tool fan art painted for the writers as a Christmas gift. Watercolor and ink.
Cardboard Dragon Armor and Sword, Fall 2011. Created as a project for a costume design class, the scale-themed cardboard sword and helmet floated around Senior House and caused major pwnage for quite a while.
Mutant Plushie Lab, Spring 2014. As a Steer Roast art workshop, I assembled a huge pile of stuffed animals, provided needle and thread, and watched Roast attendees assemble highly...creative creatures.
Mutant Plushie Lab, Spring 2014. Another hideous masterpiece.
"Scots-punk" Skirt, summer 2011. I was inspired by this chunky plaid fabric to whip up this utilitarian kilt-like skirt with attached cargo pocket and carabiner attachment loops.
Steampunk Formal Dress, Spring 2012. When asked to the Senior Ball, I insisted that my date and I dress in Steampunk style, and whipped up this black-and-green underbust gown and gauntlets for the occasion.
Learn'd Astronomer Mural, Fall 2010. An important poem to keep in mind while attending MIT...
