Salome
MIT Shakespeare Ensemble, Summer 2015
Dir. Olivia D'Ambrosio
For the director's take of patients at a mental hospital putting on a show, we had to re-interpret "royalty" in terms of what the patients could get their hands on: namely, bathrobes. Iokanaan, being the dangerous upstart, was naturally the patient in a straight-jacket. Everyone, including the crew, got to keep their hand-stencilled institution T-shirt as a souvenier of the show.
